Tagaytay Art Beat

I’ve always been a fan of indie gigs and music events. Back when in I was in college, I’d attend events here and there. It’s been 6 months since I started working and I think the last music event that I was able to attend was more than 6 months ago. That’s why when I saw that there’s going to be a music event in Tagaytay (so near from my home!), I immediately asked my gig-goer friend, Winnie, to come with me.

Tagaytay Art Beat was an art and music exhibition for new, young and upcoming artists. It was held last September 19, 2015 at Museo Orlina. When I saw the poster of this gig, the first thing that came into my mind was: A MUSIC EVENT IN TAGAYTAY? THAT’S A FIRST! Usually, music events like these are held in Manila; either in Intramuros or the usual bars like Saguijo, The 70’s Bistro, Bunk etc.

Another thought that came into my mind was: A gig in a museum? That’s the coolest thing ever! I didn’t know how they were able to pull it off but damn, it turned out to be perfect.

Organized by Docdef Productions & in collaboration with Museo Orlina (one of the organizers was Ningning Orlina), Tagaytay Art Beat was made possible. It was an awesome night full of great music and stunning artworks.

The art exhibitions were amazing. There was live art during the event and an exhibit on the first floor of the museum. Hopefully, someday I get to feature some of works on an event like this.

Farewell Fair Weather

The line-up was A+, my favorite indie acts were there–Autotelic, The Ransom Collective, Jensen and The Flips and Reese Lansangan. I was also mesmerized by Bullet Dumas and Dayaw, both of which I saw live for the first time. All performances that I was able to witness were solid.

We arrived late so we missed a lot of performances still, I enjoyed the event very much. Winnie and I sang, danced and took pictures until 3 am. We were still on a “music high” from 3am onwards, as we sat on Museo Orlina’s roof Deck, staring at the horizon and discussing the musical acts that transpired.

My heart is overflowing with happiness. I love how events like this promote our local music and artists. Hoping for a part II, yes? Hopefully!
